According to a\u00a0Seeking Alpha<\/em> article, Ashford Hospitality Trust, Inc. (NYSE: AHT<\/a>) and its family of companies is among the \u201cmost dangerous\u201d real estate investment trusts (REITs). Initially seeming to do well at the start even when market prices for hotel REITs plunged during the early aughts, this holder of luxury assets used cash to repurchase about half of its outstanding shares at low rates, helping to save itself while similar investment vehicles could not. However, it was after that, contends Portfolio Income Solutions leader Dane Bowler that the real estate investment trust started getting \u201cgreedy,\u201d and Ashford Hospitality Trust\u2019s decisions now purportedly appear to be made for the benefits management while costing shareholders.
