{"id":7231,"date":"2019-06-19T16:36:44","date_gmt":"2019-06-19T21:36:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.investorlawyers.com\/?p=7231"},"modified":"2019-06-19T16:36:44","modified_gmt":"2019-06-19T21:36:44","slug":"market-rigging-in-recent-sec-cases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.investorlawyers.com\/blog\/market-rigging-in-recent-sec-cases\/","title":{"rendered":"Recent SEC Cases Involves Market Rigging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<strong>Investors in Alleged $2.3M Prime Bank Fraud Were Promised Huge Profits<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">US Securities and Exchange Commission\u2019s (SEC)<\/a> prime bank investment fraud case against Elizabeth Oharriz of Florida and Peter Baker of Georgia, the regulator is accusing the two of them and their companies of stealing more than $2.2M from investors. The Commission contends that Oharriz and Baker sold fake prime bank instruments from supposedly known banks while promising investors \u201castronomical profits.\u201d The regulator\u2019s complaint said that they also were also told that if these instruments could not be obtained, then their advance payments would be returned to them.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, claims the SEC, Oharriz and Baker allegedly used investors\u2019 money for their own personal spending or sent the funds to third parties.
