For Texas Investors Who Suffered Losses In iCapital VRF or Virage, The Time To Explore Your Legal Options Is Now
Contact our iCap VRF Investment Losses Attorneys in Houston, TX
Shepherd Smith Edwards and Kantas Houston Securities Law Office (investorlawyers.com) is continuing to speak with Texas investors who suffered losses involving iCapital VRF (AKA as iCap VRF) or Virage. iCap VRF is a feeder fund that is invested in Virage Capital Management.
The latter is heavily invested in healthcare recovery and analytics company MSP Recovery (NASDAQ: MSPR) (formerly D/B/A LifeWallet). MSPR’s stock has since dropped significantly (down to .65 cents on August 13, 2025). This has impacted even indirect investors, including iCap VRF investors.
iCapital VRF was marketed to mostly Texas investors, in particular around the Houston area, by Rockefeller Financial and other broker-dealers. Rockefeller Financial is a Rockefeller Capital Management subsidiary. The parent company partnered with iCapital VRF, which allowed the broker-dealers’ customers, primarily wealthy investors, to avail of investments involving this feeder fund.
Our Houston Securities Law Office is looking into whether Rockefeller Financial and any of the other brokerage firms that sold iCap VRF/Virage to investors made unsuitable investment recommendations, misrepresentations, and omissions of the risks, overconcentrated customers’ accounts, disregarded their best interests, or engaged in some type of broker misconduct or negligence.
Did A Rockefeller Financial Registered Representative Sell You iCap VRF or Virage?
Former Rockefeller Financial broker Samuel David Frankfort is one of the registered representatives who sold iCapital VRF investments to customers. He was suspended as a stockbroker by FINRA after not complying with an arbitration award that ordered him to pay Rockefeller Financial more than $1.8M related to two promissory notes. Samuel Frankfort remains a registered investment adviser with Corient in Houston.
Frankfort’s Broker CRD shows one customer in which claimants are seeking up to $500,000 in damages related to complex investment products. Also last month, our iCapital VRF recovery attorneys filed a seven-figure lawsuit against Rockefeller Financial on behalf of two former customers of Frankfort.
